Expiration Date
Thought I'd share this for those that might want to take advantage of this, and any comments on the validity. I like V-8 vegetable juice and the convenience of it. It was a little pricy at store the other day and I saw the Kroger brand (vegetable, not tomato) was about half the price at $1.29 - you know those 1/2 gallon metal cans. Tastes alright, a little tobasco and pepper makes it better.
The kicker - stamped on the top - Best when used by Nov, 2008! I'd rather do my own canning, but man! Could be a cheap source of what the body needs, lasting quite a long time. |
Re: Expiration Date
those drinks, no matter the brand, taste like ass!! :puke:

Re: Expiration Date
Think about it this way: you likely pay more for Plain Water in a plastic bottle. Lots of the bottled water brands show contaminants when tested, so unless you are buying Distilled Water you may be better off just using tap water.
That Kroger V8 knock-off might even be a good soup stock. Ever make Minestrone soup? Nothing better! Sounds almost cheaper to buy that stuff than take the time to make and can your own. |
Re: Expiration Date
A good source of vits & mins. Besides when it comes to survival....doesnt taste become a secondary issue? i think so. I guess we wont all be able to eat "gourmet" as the world implodes around us. :hahaha::afraid:

Re: Expiration Date
As far as expiration dates I read here I believe that those are suggested and can last 2 to 3 years longer just with taste degrading some.

Re: Expiration Date
DB? is not only the taste, it also looses the vitamins little by little till all it does is to fill you up but with no nutriends.
|
Re: Expiration Date
Don't worry about losing vitamins, it didn't have any to start with. We are talking about cheap vegetables raised with the use of pesticides, prematurely picked, ripened with ethylene, chemically peeled.
I'd like to see the ingredient list (what is added to keep it from spoiling for so long?) |
